Since September 2017, Chief Master Sergeant Roy Bowser Jr. has worked as an independent claims adjuster in Mobile, Alabama. With decades of experience in human resources, Sergeant Roy Bowser Jr. is a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA). AFSA advocates for the needs of military veterans and their families and educates government and community leaders on issues impacting these groups.

Founded in 1961, AFSA works to improve the quality of life of military veterans and those close to them. Their members collaborate with legislators and community leaders to create policies that best serve veterans and their families. It also provides its members professional development opportunities and informs them about news that affects them.

AFSA distributes publications to educate its members, and links them to existing documents as well. The group publishes an email newsletter that informs members about bills that affect veterans, and how they can contact their elected officials to voice their support. The AFSA Magazine, published quarterly, digitally and in print, updates members, Department of Defense personnel, and the public on the work of the Air Force and relevant issues. The AFSA website also hosts a link to the Veterans Administration’s breaking news web page.
